A fun new year with good friends Arashi

Without stopping at varieties and dramas, all their 3 singles were big hits, the movie "Kiiroi Namida" was released, and their satisfying first Dome performance, this '07 year has called forth events in many aspects. It's a straight path that fulfilled their aspirations!

Rather than being noticed, they're super idols who notice their fans first

--I understand that it doesn't suit Arashi to look back at the past but, what kind of year was activity-filled '07 for you?

Sakurai: It was fulfilling wasn't it? Starting from the new year's concert.... we managed to do two concerts in one year at the Dome too.
Matsumoto: It was great huh. For Arashi to do the Dome with this timing, who would've thought of that, that's how it was right!
Ninomiya: We ourselves didn't expect it either right. (laughs) Well, besides, doing a concert at the Dome was not the very last goal that we had either.
Sakurai: What do you think, nail-cutting king?
(He says to Aiba who's seriously cutting his nails)
Aiba: Wait a minute, I just have the small finger left. (laughs)
Matsumoto: Then we'll have you return to your nails again.
Aiba: (panicking) After all, this year, look, we managed to perform at the Dome twice right?
Matsumoto: We said that just now!

--What about Oh-chan? Like incidents of being noticed on the streets increasing further and such?

Ohno: No, rather, I remember the faces of fans. Just the other day when I went to a cafe, it felt like I had seen the girl working at the shop before. "...... ah, this girl came (to the concert)!" I thought.
As one: Hehhh~~!?
Ninomiya: Eh, she said that to you? "I went to the concert" or something.
Ohno: I asked her.
Matsumoto: And? What did she say?
Ohno: (nasal voice) She said, "Yes".
Aiba: Uwa~, amazing! But weren't you just flirting!?
Ohno: I was flirting.
Aiba: Uhyahyahyahya~
Sakurai/Matsumoto: What are you doing! (laughs)
Ohno: That's a joke. (laughs) But that sort of thing, happens often.
Aiba: I can't do that. I can't remember that much~!
Sakurai: I don't know about us being "popular", but it's true that it does feel like we're "recognized" by the entire country. I had a lot of work with the volleyball events and "Kenminsei SP" but, wherever I went there were many chances for people to call out to me.

--You had a lot of performances on TV as well, is there anything that left a special impression on you?

Five members: Such as...?

--The different coloured skinny pants that you wore for "M-Station" were extremely memorable. (laughs)

Aiba: Ahh~, we're told that a lot. The one with five colours. Was I red?
Matsumoto: Are we told that a lot? (laughs)
Sakurai: For me, it was the special broadcast in March with Ehara-san, "Ehara Hiroyuki & Arashi Save the troubles of modern folks! Live broadcast SP". For the five of us to do it live, and at a golden time, I thought that it was a new challenge. (*note: golden = time where most people watch television)

Right now, even if we don't talk about our important emotions, we can understand each other

--Now, I would like to ask once again. To you, what is the charm in Arashi?

Sakurai: Sleeping lion, Satoshi-san, please talk about our charm, it's about time!
Ohno: .... You know, Arashi is....
Nino: You know, Arashi is. (doing an impression)
Ohno: Harmonious huh.
Nino: Harmonious huh ♪
As one: (laughs)
Sakurai: We really are harmonious, it's true.
Ohno: I don't know about the others but, Arashi doesn't have a strained atmosphere, and we're harmonious right. Lately, I've been thinking, that's great.
Aiba: We don't change after all, really.

--Rather than not changing, it looks like your friendship is growing stronger and stronger.

Ohno: Yes, we're getting more and more harmonious.
Ninomiya: Clearly, it means that the personality of the leader who organizes the group together is coming out!?
Aiba: If Ohno-san was a really scary person...
Ohno: Everyone may be scary.
Matsumoto: Arashi's charm huh. Isn't it the way we're all so different, in a good way? I think it's amazing that individuals with such different personalities can be properly organized as one... (to the reporter) Is that bad? With that.

--No! (laughs) It's just that, while it looks like you're all different on first glance, it feels like an equal combination where all the members are all gazing at one goal.

Sakurai: Well, it's because we've always been together~ Lately, we haven't been talking about that sort of thing but, we're already at the point where, we know it without having to talk about it.
Aiba: That's right~
Sakurai: "Connected by C" right, we are. (He's trying to copy the use of C1000's CM)
As one: ......................

--(laughs) It's a year where Sho-kun brought forth other characters as well right. (laughs)

Sakurai: As a caster right? (gets a wee bit cocky)

--No, rather, the gap from that.

Sakurai: Eh!
Nnomiya: Yeah, I think it's that side. (laughs) But you know, it's just that everyone in the world hasn't seen his funny aspects. We've seen it since long before.
Aiba: For one period, look, he started "NEWS ZERO" too, and had decided to have more self-restraint. But clearly, he couldn't hide it huh.
Ninomiya: This year, Sho-kun might have widened his circle and grown bigger I think.

Arashi's charm is the part where 5 members are together and exhibiting their true values?

--Then continuing with Arashi's charm, I'd like to ask Arashi's No. 1 Fan Ninomiya-san as well!

Sakurai: Oh, your'e a fan? I'll sign an autograph for you. (A small skit begins)
Ninomiya: Thank you very much!
Matsumoto: Since when were you a fan?
Ninomiya: Well, since the debut I've always supported you! It's presumptuous for someone like me to say this but, clearly Arashi's charm is....., "the part where the individual members don't spark on their own" right!
Sakurai: Oi! That's weird isn't it ! (laughs)
Ninomiya: No~, ignoring the united bond and the sparkling glow that you have when the five are together, when you're on your own (tilts his head) there's not a single spark...... that gap is good. ♥

Aiba: We're just getting the dirt out right?
Ninomiya: Right, right.
Sakurai: We've already been working for 8 years, it's about time to get the dirt out already!
Ninomiya/Aiba: (laughs)

--For there to be no changes for 8 years, it means that there hasn't been any moments where you once again discover a member's other side?

Aiba: I guess not. Ah, maybe just Sho-kun's teeth grinding. (This is the case when Ohno and Aiba were in the same room with Sakurai in the boarding house before a concert tour, and their peaceful sleep was wrecked by his teeth grinding.)
Ninomiya: For that, is that a "discovery"? A "reconfirmation"? After all, Leader had the same room with Sho-kun for the first period (after the debut) right. Or is it for that time, you slept so deeply that you didn't even hear the teeth grinding.
Ohno: I didn't know about it, those last times.
Aiba: He might've just started that recently.
Ohno: I sure was shocked by that noise!
Sakurai: (To Ohno and Aiba) For next year's tour, let's sleep together again. I'll let you sleep. Isn't that great.
Aiba: ...... Nn, no, I think I'll pass for next year.... we'll pass Sho-kun to Nino and MatsuJun's room. Okay?
Sakurai: Then, next time it'll be with that 2:3.
Matsumoto: Rather, 1 (Sakurai): 4 huh. (laughs)
Ninomiya: But, in the first place, Sho-kun says he can't sleep on his own so, he ended up sleeping in the middle of the three right. (laughs)
Sakurai: That room is scary!

A daring election! Arashi's '07 MVP Is clearly that person

--Then even in this year's Arashi, I would like you to choose the most hardworking person, the MVP!

Sakurai: (immediately) That's me right!
Matsumoto: No, it's me right! (laughs)
Ninomiya: No no, it's me right! (laughs)
Ohno: ........ it's Sho-kun.
As one: (laughs)
Ninomiya: Ah, okay! Then, then, we'll go with Sho-kun! (laughs)
Matsumoto: Leader, go with the flow! (laughs)
Aiba: I'll vote one for Sho-kun too.
Matsumoto/Ninomiya: It's unanimous!
Sakurai: The flow is weird. (laughs)

--Congratulations on winning the award of MVP, Sakurai-san.

Sakurai: Thank you very much. Well, that's right, with the strength from the members, I managed to win this award. Next year, with this energy, I'd like to shine with the best MVP that beats other awards! Thank you very much!
